5 Essentials For Good Web Design
The internet is full of poorly designed websites. Don’t let yours be one of them.
Your website is an opportunity to make a great first impression and communicate with your target audience. Let’s look at six things you can do to get leads and build your online presence.
Fast and Secure
Fast and secure web hosting is essential for your website. Customers will spend an average of fifteen seconds viewing a website. If your site is slow or gives the impression that it is not secure, you may miss out on important leads and sales. You need to ensure your site has an SSL certificate and loads quickly.
Fifty percent of internet use comes from mobile phones. If your website is not optimised for mobile you are missing out on traffic to your site. Your website must be mobile responsive and accessible from any device to be competitive in today’s market.
Content Management System
One of the top reasons someone will leave your website is because they don’t know how to find what they are looking for. A good content management system will make the user experience more enjoyable and will keep people coming back to your website.
Every business wants to rank on the first page of Google. The only way that can happen is with good SEO practices in place. SEO uses keywords and search terms your customers are searching for and places your content in front of them if your SEO is done right. On-page SEO is essential for every business on the internet.
The success of your website relies on the content. Having great images and engaging copy will set you apart from your competitors and encourage your audience to take action on your website.
Web Design That Works
Our Web Design Process
Before we get started, we look at your business and your industry. We combine your ideas with our research to create a visual map and content requirements. We outline any gaps and determine a timeline for the project’s key milestones, so you know what to expect.
The wireframe is a visual blueprint of your website. It provides an overview of the page structure, layout and functionality. It is like an architectural drawing that outlines the skeletal structure without design or graphic elements.
When the wireframes have been accepted, we create mock-ups of the design and ensure the styling is consistent with your brand. If you need graphic design elements such as a logo or branding strategy, we can create them for you at this stage. PDF drafts are sent through for approval before we build the site.
We build your website using WordPress and the Genesis Framework. We insert content and placeholder text which can be updated later. The site is built on a local server so you can see what it will look like and test the functionality before it goes live.
Often the biggest hold up on a web design project is the content. We encourage all of our clients to put together their content as early as possible. We offer content writing and SEO services to make this part of the process easier.
We point your domain to your website and set up hosting. We can host your website or set up your site with a provider of your choice.
We provide a comprehensive handover of your site which includes video and PDF tutorials. We also offer follow up support if required.
Our clients value our integrated services and attention to detail.
For this project, we worked closely with Chris from Ha Ho Art to develop a website design that includes an online art store and galleries to showcase his artwork and current projects. The result is a website that reflects his personal brand and can grow with his business.
